Three Iranian Women's Rights Activists Remain in Prison: You Can Help Release Them

On March 6 we asked you to write to the Iranian authorities and demand the release of 25 women who were detained two days earlier during a peaceful protest in Tehran. You responded and 22 of those women have since been released.

Now three prominent women's rights activists remain in prison: Mahboubeh Abbasgholizadeh, Shadi Sadr and Jila Bani Yaghoub.  We ask that you once again send a strong message to the government of Iran to set these women free. Your voice has made and can make an enormous difference.

These women were arrested for peacefully demonstrating their support for five other activists being prosecuted for participating in a nonviolent gathering last year to demand women's rights. And earlier today, when more than 700 women in Tehran took to the streets in honor of International Women's Rights Day, police used batons to break them up.

Please take action and demand that the Iranian government release the three detained women and end their violent suppression of free speech. The pressure to release these women is mounting and your voice is contributing to this.
